Deathly Hallows US 784 pages long.

A press release from Scholastic confirms that the US version of DH will be 784 long. Really this time. For sure. Read here. This makes it the second longest book.

Dan Radcliffe, old before his time.

It would appear that Daniel Radcliffe has turned down a million-pound book deal to reveal all about Harry Potter.

Dan told Neil Sean of Sky, “I have been offered obscene amounts of money to do a biography, but they fail to see that at 17 I am a little on the young side. I plan to live a little more just yet. I do devour stuff like that, but honestly, I may be around 30 before I even think of doing anything like that.”

And who’s to say anyone will give a damn in 13 years time? Take the million and run! Maaan, it’s like a game of HP Deal or No Deal.  Read all about it here.

The Order of the Phoenix game is due to hit shops a week before the film. Yup. That’s all.

First edition owner interview

Thought this might be of interest to you news-hungry little scribbuli – an interview with the man who paid $37,000 for a first edition Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. $37k. For a book. He apparently thinks its a sound investment. We just hope he got paid well for the interview, poor guy. Read here and understand why he’d rather not be named.

Various Emma Updates

As we reported a week or so ago, Emma Watson donated some bits and bobs to be auctioned off for the Wild Trout Trust. Well, she made £1568.59 ($3,044.16) for the fund.

Alllso, despite the ever reliable Sun newspaper (cough) reporting that Emma has signed up to the last Harry Potter films, everywhere else claims she is NOT signing. Now Warner Brothers have come forward to say that they are confident she will sign to the last films. Why wouldn’t she? Rumours are she’s sick of being branded as “that girl from Harry Potter” but we can definitely think of worse things – such as not having the 4 million pounds she’s supposedly been offered to keep the role. Pah.

Finally, our first piece of real Emma Watson news! We say news…we mean gossip. And by gossip, we mean rumour. Just how we like it.

Firstly, reports are all over the ‘net about Emma’s run in with a stalker at her school. Apparently, the 20 year old visited her school and sneaked in to her lectures and quizzed her about the HP films. So now she has a bodyguard! She’s complained that she can’t get a boyfriend due to her celebrity – good luck with a bodyguard in tow! Anyway, the guy was warned off and everything is hunkydory in the world of Miss Watson leaving various websites to make fun of the situation with things like this.

Also, the Sun is reporting that: “Sources at studio Warner Brothers say she [Emma] has just signed a deal to star in the last two adaptations of the JK Rowling books.” This is the first anyone’s reported anything about this and, hey, it’s the Sun – the UK equivilent of the Quibbler – but lets hope for a triple trio whammy.

Deathly Hallows – 700 pages? Ja?

A German site on which readers can pre-order HP&DH lists the new book as having 700 pages. Fact? Or ist das just schnitzel? View here! This would make it 100 pages longer than HBP and around 60 shorter than OoTP which does tally with what JK has said so far.

UPDATE: Bloomsbury have said this is NOT true. Oh well.

Rupert Grint dating?

 

How did we miss this one? The London Buzz is reporting that Rupert Grint got awfully friendly with Hannah Murray, an English actress known for her role in Skins, at the NME awards he attended recently. A friend of the actress said “Rupert was called over to Hannah’s group as she wanted to meet him and the pair clicked instantly. They flirted over drinks for the rest of the after party and they seemed to get on very well indeed.”
